I adopted my fur baby Boo-Kitty on Halloween day, 2003. He was a tiny grey kitty with a built in tuxedo who climbed up the pen so he could cuddle with me. I named him Boo because of Halloween but little did I know, I would be naming the biggest scaredy cat in the world a word that is associated with scaring people - "Boo". Oddly enough, my neighbor also has a kitten named Boo-Kitty and she adopted her on Halloween.

Boo is far from tiny these days but is just as cuddly and still scared of his own shadow. It's hard for me to fathom that he is turning 13 years old this October. Through Boo's 13 years, I not only watched him grow, but he has watched me grow up. He's been through a few boyfriends, a few heartaches and one special guy who became my husband. Boo has has also lived in many houses. He once lived in an ocean front Condo where he loved to watch Pelicans fly by. He also lived on a golf course where squirrels would taunt him from the Florida room. When we moved to Tampa in 2011, Boo went from having his own bedroom to sharing a one bedroom one bath condo with us. Don't be sad for him though, living in smaller quarters made Boo more social.

In every location Boo has lived, he always had a separate litter box area. When we moved into the Condo, I panicked not knowing where I would put his bathroom area. I didn't want his litter box out in the open and we had to find a way to make his space livable with ours. The first thing I did was purchase a litter box washroom which matched our bathroom cabinets. We've had this piece for 5 years now and absolutely love it.

Since we have limited storage in the condo, especially the bathroom, storing cat litter was always an issue. We never had anywhere to put the cat litter bag/box out of sight. We finally broke down and purchased a matching cabinet (which I put together all by myself!!). This allowed me to store his cat litter, medicine and other feline necessities out of site and in an organized fashion. Oddly enough, I have spent more on Boo in the bathroom than I have on ourselves.

• Find something that matches your current decor in the area you are putting the cat litter box

Find a place to store the cat litter.

• Standing cabinets are great for this if you don't have the space
• Find something with coordinating pieces
• Doors to hide the contents will help it look cleaner

Use a cat litter that has great odor control power

• If your Cat has a common name, find art showcasing it. I got a Halloween decoration on clearance which works perfectly for us. My friends Dog is named Emma and she is always finding stuff for her room. 

Giving Back
I was given the opportunity to give $100 to an animal charity of my choice from Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze. I didn't have to think twice about who it would go to. Back in 2012, we rescued a dog off of one of the busiest interstates in Florida (I4). The dog was cowering in the middle of a 4 lane highway where cars go 80 mph. We were able to get her to the side of the interstate and into our car safely. After finding what we thought was a no kill shelter, I called to check on her the following day only to find out she'd be euthanized within 72 hours due to being a Pit Bull and having an eye infection. I have been grateful to Pet Pal from that day because without them, this doggy didn't have a chance. They even raised money to get her surgery so she would be adopted and find a permanent home. They work with animals of all kinds, not just dogs and cats!
