To celebrate national guacamole day, I wanted to do something a little different by making an avocado margarita, also known as a guacarita. I am not a fan of frozen margaritas but Avocados give a very creamy texture when turned into a frozen concoction - I knew this would be a delicious treat. The first one came out a little strong so I added a tablespoon of coconut milk which helped a ton (thanks for the suggestion Leslie!)
GUACARITA / Avocado Margarita
(two cocktails)
4 ounces silver tequila (I used Casa Noble Reposado, aged 364 days in white oak barrels)
1 skinned avocado, pitted and chopped into quarters
1 ounce agave nectar (or more to taste)
Cilantro leaves - use sparingly. 4 were too much for our two drinks and I love cilantro
2 cups of ice
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy. Pour into a margarita glass and serve with a side of guacamole.
I am not a fan of too much in my guacamole. I do not like onions, tomatoes or in my guac and keep the fillers very simple. This recipe is a great base, which you can add many other items if you wish (lobster, shrimp, cojita cheese, corn, tomatoes, onions, etc., etc.).
Megan's simple and healthy guacamole
1 avocado, pitted and diced
1/2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
1/2 lime, juiced
two dashes of hot sauce
two minced garlic cloves
Salt and Pepper to taste
Place all ingredients in a bowl, using a fork, mash the avocado but do not turn it into a creamy texture - it should be chunky. Serve with a side of chips.
How will you be celebrating National Guacamole Day?
Disclosure: I received two miniature bottles of Casa Noble Respado to create a recipe for National Guacamole Day. As always, all opinions are my own.
I've never had a guacamole margarita! Interesting! :) I'm definitely going to give it a try! My Garlic Serrano, Cajun Cayenne, & Mango Pineapple Hot Sauce at www.prettybitchescan.com would be good in these too!

Guacarita - what an amazing idea! I've never even imagined avocado in an alcoholic drink before but when I read that you added some coconut milk in there, I started salivating. This looks delicious.
