Strawberries and Cream Smoothie

One of the many things I love about living in Florida is Strawberry season. I live 30 minutes from Plant City, FL and have access to the most delicious and fresh berries one could ask for. This past week kicked off the Strawberry festival so I figured it was perfect timing to try out a new smoothie, Strawberries and Cream.

I received product from Designer Whey to try out and the first thing I noticed was that their Premium Whey Protein Powder only contained 100 calories! Along with 18g protein, 2g sugar, calcium, vitamin D and B-vitamins. This excited me as I always make my breakfast smoothies with protein powder. It is the perfect way to start your day. I was VERY impressed with how smooth Designer Whey was the first time I used it. It was not grainy or clumpy and I didn't have to pretend to be in a shake weight commercial while using my shaker!

I decided to use 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder, French Vanilla in my Strawberries and Cream Smoothie. Once again, I am very impressed with how smooth this powder is.
For my Strawberries and Cream smoothie I used the following:
4 oz plain non fat Greek Yogurt (this is what makes it super creamy)
2 TSP of honey or natural sweetener
6-8 strawberries depending on their size
1/4 to a 1/2 cup milk (eye it - start w/ 1/4 and add more if you need it, while blending, you should have a perfect cyclone in the middle)
6 Ice Cubes

Many moons ago, I bartended at a restaurant which specialized in frozen cocktails. Due to this, I "wing it" while making smoothies. You learn as you experiment more. Fresh ingredients help with consistency and flavor. I dislike overly icy smoothies which is why I use greek yogurt in the smoothies instead of just using milk.
