Getting into the Holiday Spirit at Walt Disney World

Today would have been Walt Disney's 111 birthday. I owe so many of my childhood memories to Walt. I couldn't imagine my life without the magic he shared with the World. I probably wouldn't be a runner today if it were not for the magic of runDisney.

I spent the past weekend at the Walt Disney World theme parks, notably Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Nothing will put you in the holiday spirit like Disney World. Decorations are everywhere you look. At night, lights are on every turn. It's magical and beautiful. Yet my words cannot explain the beauty of the Magic Kingdom at night during the holiday's. I was holding Gabe's 2 1/2 year old niece Hailey when the castle lit up. She whispered to me, "we're here" three times. When I asked her where we were, she replied, "we're home" I asked if this was her home and she said "yes, cinderelly's castle". Teaching her young!
After spending all day Saturday at the Magic Kingdom, we got up to spend Sunday at Hollywood Studios. On a side note, we ran 10 miles prior to going to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday. When we went to bed Saturday night, my FitBit tracker informed me that I traveled over 30,000 steps and 15 miles.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is the most amazing light show you will witness. Down The Streets of America, you will find entire buildings covered in sheets of multi-colored lights, and thousands more lights form twirling carousels, angels and more. Approximately every 10 minutes, the lights dim and then dramatically spring to life, dynamically choreographed to traditional holiday music. After each dancing of  lights show, we were covered with a Florida snow storm (foam). You have to see it to believe it!

Here is a video from 2012 Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights I took at this past weekend.

Here are many photos from the night.

  1. Looks like fun! I'm bummed that I probably won't make it out to the parks this year.

    1. Awe :( We made sure to go last weekend so we could go at least once before our tickets are blacked out. We are gone this weekend for a 1/2 marathon, the following weekend is my boyfriends graduation. Then I believe we are blacked out until the New Year.
