Today marked my 3rd trip to Mazzaro's Market in St. Petersburg. We ended up getting there at 11:30, just in time for the lunch rush (you would think I would have learned by now not to do this!). The sandwiches are huge - splittable size. Mazzaro's Market is the perfect location to start your day of adventure out in St. Pete.
First, if you have never been, this is a full experience and you need to prepare your patience for it....not for the staff - for the other patrons.
You can find everything here from fresh made pasta to aged prosciutto. You will get yourself the best, fresh and cheapest sandwich on this side of the bay. Pair that with a bottle of wine at grocery store prices and a glass to go along with it. Finish your trip off with a handcrafted cappuccino and a cup of gelato. It is a true experience.
The most amazing cheese selection I have ever seen, including hand made Mozzarella. A wine list that will make most places jealous. Fresh olive oil. A true butcher including meat and fish. A bakery that would make your eyes bulge. If this isn't enough - photo opps galore. I cannot put this place into words.
Did I mention they also bake their own bread? Stuff their own pasta? Roast their own coffee beans? An adorable old Italian serenading you while playing his guitar?
Do yourself a favor and visit Mazzaro's. If you do go on a Saturday, prepare yourself. I have been begging my friend Darlynn to visit me in Tampa for over a year now. I am hoping this post will bring her to the west coast.
CIAO BELLA! (ps - wine tastings on Friday and Saturday's!)
