WOW what a weekend! Keri came to visit and we ventured into St. Pete Beach to explore some.
First, I took her to Mazzaro's Market in St. Petersburg. If you haven't been there yet - you owe it to yourself. As a heads up, Saturday's are insane there. We grabbed a bottle of Santa Margherita Valley Pinot Grigio and two sandwiches (I got the panini special - Tuscan Tuna Melt and Keri got the Caprese Sandwich - OMG). The great thing about this place is that you can get amazing food, sit in a restaurant atmosphere but pay grocery store pricing for wine. This $22 bottle would have cost us $50 at any restaurant. The food was great and after you push through the crowds, it is overall an amazing experience. Plus we were able to get dinner for that evening, Chilean Sea Bass for $21 a pound (vs. $25 a pound at Whole Foods).
Check out this photo-op outside of the market:
After leaving Mazzaro's, we headed over to Morean Arts Center to check out the Dale Chihuly Collection.
I became quite familiar with Mr. Chihuly while employed at the Ginn Company, since he created the trophies for the L.P.G.A. tournament, the Ginn Open. I have always admired his work and seem to find him in unexpected places. At the Atlantis in the Bahamas, the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. I swear, he pops up everywhere, magically and unexpected. This is a smaller exhibit but worth visiting. Chihuly is am amazing artist and everything you see will take your breathe away.
After leaving the exhibit, we found ourselves at this cute restaurant called Parkshore Grill. This restaurant is quite beautiful and I will be coming back for dinner. We decided to split an order of their Parkshore Oysters and get a glass of wine (shocker).
And of course this post wouldn't be the same without a photo of my wine, a glass of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc
Do you see that tree in the background?! Well, of course it was time for a photo-op as I have never seen a tree like that in Florida
Oh - let's not forget the other sight seeing we experienced, former Florida Governor Charlie Crist checking out a Ferrari. You do not see this everyday. And speaking of Charlie....he is having an interesting time in the media right now.
We ended our evening at Berns Steakhouse Harry Wraugh Dessert Room. I feasted on the King Midas, a carrot cake topped with Berns famous Macadamia Nut ice cream. It was simply amazing.
What a fun day! Thank goodness Keri was up for doing something other than shopping (all she generally wants to do while on this side of the state).
